Who are we?
CARE in Weybridge is a local transport charity serving the residents of Weybridge (postcode KT13).
CARE is a voluntary organisation consisting of drivers, duty officers and a small committee. Our volunteer drivers use their own cars to take clients to medical, dental and other appointments, such as hairdressing, shopping etc. Our duty officers take requests for transport using a dedicated mobile phone.
How we help our clients
If you are a resident of KT13 and you have an upcoming appointment, you can call our dedicated mobile phone line between 9am and 12pm Monday to Friday. On first calling, the duty officer will register you as a CARE user by taking your address, telephone numbers and any special mobility requirements, such as assistance needed getting in and out of the car or any help needed during a hospital visit, for example.
The duty officer will then call round our volunteer drivers to find someone who can help you with that journey. Finally, they will call you back to let you know who will be driving you and the exact arrangements.
Our service is free, but we ask that clients make modest voluntary donations to cover our drivers’ running costs, based on a list of suggested contributions. All drivers carry small brown envelopes to collect donations.
Our drivers will collect you from your home, take you to your destination, help as needed while there and bring you home again.
